![]() The Nova Air C on a kickstand versus the Note Air 2 with its built in kickstand in its caseīesides the portability (and page turn buttons), the other greatest advantage of the Nova Air C is color. Note for the Note Air 2 it is the Ayotu case, but it's functionally the same as the OEM one, just seems more solidly built.Įreaders/eink tablets and iPads in standing mode: Kindle Oasis 1, Kindle Oasis 2, iPad Mini, Nova Air C and Note Air 2 For now, my girlfriend is using her Nova Air C with a stand, similarly to how I did with my Oasis 1. There are ones on the similarly sized Kindle Oasis 2 and the iPad Mini, so it seems feasible. This kickstand is present on every ereader and iPad I've owned except the original Oasis, so I think Onyx could add it if and when they revise the case. While I really like the page turn buttons on the Nova Air C case, it lacks the kickstand of the Note Air 2 case, which is a great feature. The book on the iPad Pro is different since it's not my device.īezels on, from left to right, Kindle Oasis 2, iPad Mini, Nova Air C, Note Air 2 and iPad Pro I was actually surprised the iPad Pro is that much smaller than the Note Air 2, mostly because it's typically in its case with integrated keyboard and trackpad, which are super useful but definitely make it a much larger device. ![]() Note the Kindle Oasis doesn't have two column text mode.īezels on Nova Air C versus the Note Air 2īezels on, from left to right, Kindle Oasis 2, iPad Mini, Nova Air C and Note Air 2īelow is a photo adding in an iPad Pro. Below is a photo comparing the same book in all devices. The iPad mini has small bezels all around. The Note Air 2 copies the look of the Oasis, with one large bezel for grip (though it lacks the Oasis' page turn buttons, which the Nova Air C case helpfully restores). Honestly, it makes the industrial design of an otherwise pretty sleek device feel dated. However, a big turn off that the other devices don't have, is the large side bezels of the Nova Air C. Really like the size of the Nova Air C and at somewhere around the size of an iPad Mini and just a bit larger than a Kindle Oasis, it feels like a much more portable device than the Note Air 2. Split screen mode on both devices, Kindle app on top, native notes on bottom ![]() Note that while I've found the split screen comfortable to use the few times I've tried it for about an hour each on the Nova Air C, if some reason you're using it all day instead of a few times a week, you may want to opt for the larger Note Air 2. I was pretty sure I had used it on my Note Air 2 in landscape mode with a horizontal split, but I can no longer find this option on the Air 2 and never saw it on the Nova Air C, so I'm not sure if I'm going nuts or this was removed in a firmware update. I have used it during online classes, with Acrobat or Kindle on one side and notes on the other. I thought, given the smaller size, there was no way it would be comfortable. One thing I was hesitant about on the Nova Air C versus the Note Air 2 was split screen. Setting it up for her and watching her use it has made me realize both devices are pretty great and - at times - wish I had the Nova Air C as well. My girlfriend loved my Note Air 2 so much that she bought her own Nova Air C when it came out. Before that I used a range of Kindles for reading all the way back to my trusty Kindle Keyboard, as well as iPads for video, pictures, mobile gaming and apps.
